In an era of rapid technological transformation and changing labor-market demands, higher education is increasingly expected to develop not only academic knowledge but also practical competencies, professional capabilities, innovation, and lifelong learning. Responding to this global shift, the National University has introduced various Skill-Based Programs as strategic initiatives to enhance employability and prepare learners for emerging opportunities in national and global job markets.

The University launched PGD programs in 12 disciplines during the academic year 2023–2024 and expanded the PGD program with three new disciplines for the academic year 2026–2027. PGD in Library and Information Science was introduced earlier in 2017.

The University also plans to offer a range of skill-based certificate and short courses to promote flexible and lifelong learning. The Skill-Based Program Office coordinates academic planning, program development, administration, quality assurance, and implementation, supporting the University’s broader vision of developing a skilled, innovative, adaptable, and globally competitive workforce.
