The Department of Physical Education and Cultural Affairs one of the most significant department of National University. All colleges/educational institutions affiliated to the University have been working tirelessly to enhance sports, cultural activities and maintain mental well-being of the students by organising sports and cultural training arrange competitions and various cultural events. Besides taking necessary measures to participate in sports and cultural competitions, the national and international platform through providing overall support.

Activities of the Department of Physical Education and Cultural Affairs:

  1. To create interest in sports by instilling sports spirit in students to produce talented athletes.
  2. To organise competitions at the district, divisional and national levels through the participation of students in sports and cultural affairs in colleges/education institutions.
  3. To participate in inter-university sports competitions and produce athletes at the national level.
  4. To organise inter-university sports and cultural competitions as per plan and the annual budget of the university.
  5. To formulate and implement plans to provide support for the development of sports infrastructure of affiliated colleges/education institutions.
  6. To take necessary measures for sports scholarships of players in order to improve the quality of sports.
  7. To arrange for training of teachers in physical education.


Above all, this department conducts the overall activities in organising inter-college & university sports and cultural competitions. As a result, talented cultural and sports contheessiasty get the opportunity to contribute at the national and international levels through selection.

Meanwhile, the Department of Physical Education and Cultural Affairs has decided to build a sports complex as per the decision of the Sports Board which was approved in the special Senate session 2024 of the National University.
