WORKSHOP REPORT ENHANCING ACADEMIA-INDUSTRY LINKAGE IN TOURISM

Realizing the contribution to the economy and global importance, the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) has declared tourism as one of the thrust sectors. To supply skilled human resources in the tourism sector for fulfilling the on-growing demand, the National University, Bangladesh (NU) initiated various types of academic programs in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Recently, NU has arranged a workshop titled ‘Enhancing Academia-Industry Linkage in Tourism’ to identify the scenario of the job market in tourism and analyze the current employability status of the students of NU. The aims of this workshop are, to create a bonding between the academia-industry, understand the latest developments and future trends of local and global tourism, and review the existing curriculum of NU for necessary modification. The Principals and selected teachers from 10 affiliated institutions of Tourism and Hospitality Management education attended the workshop. Nine presentations were placed in this workshop by distinguished resource persons from academia, industry, and government sides. The presentations by resource persons, interactive discussions between the participants and presenters, and panel discussions pictured the actual scenario of the job market in the tourism sector of the country. Finally, recommendations and action plans have been suggested for NU to increase the employability of the graduates and modify the curriculum. Press Released

NU On Campus PGD in LIS Admission Test-2018

Admission Test of the 3rd Batch of NU On-Campus PGD in LIS program (session of 2018-19) was held in 29 June 2018 at TTC, Dhaka. The Vice-Chancellor and his team has visited the exam halls. ২০১৬-১৭ শিক্ষাবর্ষে স্নাতক (সম্মান) ও স্নাতক (পাস) কোর্সের ভর্তিকৃত যে সকল শিক্ষার্থী ইতােপূর্বে ঘােষিত নির্ধারিত সময়ে (১৬/০৫/২০১৮ পর্যন্ত) ভর্তি বাতিলের আবেদন করেছে এবং সে মতে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কর্তৃপক্ষ যে সব শিক্ষার্থীদের ভর্তি বাতিলের চিঠি প্রেরণ করেছে কিন্তু অদ্যাবধি ২০১৭-২০১৮ শিক্ষাবর্ষের স্নাতক (সম্মান) কোর্সের রেজিস্ট্রেশন কার্ড পায়নি, তাদের আগামী ১০/০৬/২০১৮ তারিখের মধ্যে পর্যায়ক্রমে স্ব স্ব কলেজ থেকে ২০১৭২০১৮ শিক্ষাবর্ষের স্নাতক (সম্মান) কোর্সের রেজিস্ট্রেশন কার্ড সংগ্রহ করতে বলা হলাে। নতুন করে তাদের আর আবেদন করতে হবে না।
