Professor Dr. Md. Nasiruddin, graduated in 1992 and post-graduated in 1993 with first class from University of Dhaka in Information Science and Library Management. At present, he is working as a Dean, School of Undergraduate Studies, National University, Bangladesh. He is also the head of the Department of Library and Information Science and the Head of the Library as well. As an Editor, he is publishing a journal namely “The National University Journal of Humanities, Social Sciences and Business Studies” and “The National University Newsletter.” since 2014. He started his career as a Faculty in the Department of Information Science and Library Management in Rajshahi University in 1997. From July 2000 to December 2003 he was the Head of the Department. In the year of 2011 he has been awarded Ph. D. Degree on “Automation in the Public Libraries of Bangladesh: A Plan for Development” from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has worked in UNDP, UNFPA, WTO-BFTI, MIDAS, Concern Worldwide and other reputed international organizations as a Communication and Information Consultant of the different development projects like-Education, Livelihoods, Health, Disaster Management, HIV/AIDs and so on since 2002. In 2000, he has received IFLA/ALP attachment scholarship for One month both in Thailand and Singapore and attached in Srinakharinwirot University at Bangkok and National University of Singapore. After that in 2001 he visited Boston in USA as a US fellow to join the IFLA Conference. He also attended the IFLA conference in OSLO at Norway in 2005 as a NORAD Fellow. From 2011 to 2013 he was in London and conducted/attended different research and training program on library professions. During this period, he has received special grant from Finish and France Government to visit Helsinki in Finland and Parish in France as a researcher to present a paper on “Innovative Approach of a Library: Transforming the Lives of the Pavement Dwellers in Dhaka City”. Besides these, he visited different areas of India at several times as a session chair, co-chair and paper presenter like NACLIN-2001 at Hyderabad, ILA 2006 at Kanpur and ICDLM 2011 at Kolkata, Alighar University 2016, Delhi University 2016, Bangalore University 2016, Lucknow University at 2017. He has received many training and short courses on Library Automation and Computer application in Library Systems and Services, Digital Library Systems, Documentation Research and Communications (DRACO) from Thailand, Singapore, Sri Lanka, India, Norway, Finland, France, UK, Scotland and USA.
He has published more than 45 research papers in various international and national journals. In 2015, in Colombo at Sri Lanka, his paper has achieved best award out of 25 countries. The title of the paper was “Libraries for changing lives of the sex workers: A new approach for socially disadvantaged people in Bangladesh.” The National and International media covered this news.

He is the Senate and Syndicate Member of the National University, Bangladesh and life member of Library Association in Bangladesh and has been working as a Country Representative in IOCOM (International Organization for Collaborative Outcome Management) from the year 2016.
