Dr. Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu is currently working as the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of National University, Gazipur, Bangladesh. He is now on deputation from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Dhaka. He is the founder Chairman of the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering, University of Dhaka. Before joining to the National University, he was a Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Dhaka. He is a former chairman of the same department.
Dr. Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu obtained his Ph.D. in VLSI CAD in 2000 from the Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan, under the Japanese Government Scholarship. He received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Technical University of Brno, Czech Republic, in 1992 under the Czech Government Scholarship.
Dr. Hasan served as a General Manager of the Information Technology & Management Information Systems Departments, Janata Bank Limited. He was the Information Technology Consultant of Health Economics Unit (HEU) and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) under the project “SSK (Shasthyo Shurokhsha Karmasuchi) and Social Health Protection Scheme”. He was the Resident Information Technology Expert of the Supreme Court Project Implementation Committee, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Dhaka, in Legal and Judicial Capacity Building Project, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs of Bangladesh Government under the direct supervision and funding of World Bank, International Development Association (IDA), CIDA and DANIDA under direct supervision and funding of German Financial Cooperation through KfW.
Dr. Hasan published more than a hundred research papers in reputed International Journals and International Conferences. Three of his papers got best paper awards in reputed conferences, namely inIEEE International Women in Engineering Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (WIECON-ECE 2015) held in BUET, Bangladesh; Silver Jubilee Conference on Communication Technologies & VLSI design 2009 held in Vellore, India andThe International Conference on Computer & Information Technology 2001 held in Dhaka University, Bangladesh.
Dr. Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu was awarded various prestigious scholarships such as, Japanese Government Scholarship, DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) Fellowship of Germany, Czechoslovakian Government Scholarship etc. His biography has been listed in the Who’s Who in the World, 2001, USA.
Dr. Hasan was a member of Prime Minister’s ICT Task Force, Government Republic of Bangladesh. He was an expert member of ITevaluation committee of Bangladesh Police and Bangladesh Post Office. He was a member of the evaluation committee of Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP), a project of University Grants Commission of Bangladesh and Ministry of Education, Bangladesh. He is a member of Scholarship Evaluation Committee of Ministry of ICT, Bangladesh. He is a member of Different Selection Boards of Bangladesh Public Service Commission.
Dr. Hasan is a regular reviewer of reputed International Journals and International Conferences. He was the member of the organizing committee of International Conference on Computer and Information Technology 2001 (ICCIT2001), Dhaka, Bangladesh and International Conference on Computer and Information Technology 2004 (ICCIT 2004), BRAC University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was the session chair of the International Conference on Computer and Information Technology (ICCIT2003), Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh; 3rd International Conference on Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering (ICEECE 2003), Bangladesh and International Conference on Computer and Information Technology 2004 (ICCIT 2004), BRAC University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was a member of the Editorial Board of The Dhaka University Journal of Sciences. He was a member of the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Multiple-Valued Logic which was held in USA in January 2003.
